The versatile Northen Brewer hop was developed in England in 1934. Today it is grown primarily in the Hallertau region of Germany. This variety is distinguished by sophistication, as well as moderate woody-earthy bitterness and a noble, slightly spicy fruit aroma with hints of mint. In combination with other hop varieties, Northern Brewer is commonly used for bittering. It is important that due to the woody aroma, this variety is not used for dry hopping light ales.
